Randomness
Oct. 4th, 2004 12:25 amToday, in the 'I am, like, way intelligent' category, I spent some time browsing at Barnes & Nobles, and made it all the way to the checkout counter with my purchases, where I chatted with the cashier for a few seconds, before realizing that I did not have a wallet with me, or any form of money. It's probably a good thing that I'm not easily embarrassed.
I saw Shaun of the Dead last night. It was good. Very funny. It did an excellent job of capturing moments of genuine horror or sadness that deviated from the general tone. I was surprised by how very scary or touching it could suddenly be, when so much of it was just jokes. And it was really dark for a comedy, a lot more so than I had expected. But I recommend it.
This is my plan for the rest of the month. If I actually succeed, I will be utterly shocked, but I enjoy giving myself deadlines.
* Within the next two weeks, finish and have beta'd the first chapter of ClubSoka
* For October 18th, write the Hisoka essay for
reflections_2. Which is also Hisoka's birthday! Yes, I am totally sad enough to know that.
* For Halloween, revise Cast a Shadow.
And, you know, go to class and have a life and such.
idol_reflection starts tomorrow! First up: Angel, by
kita0160, and Darla, by
violetsmiles.
ETA: I put YnM fansubs on yousendit.com for someone, but while they're up, I figure I may as well offer them to anyone who would like to see them. While they last: Episodes 1-5, 6 and 7-13.

Date: 2004-10-05 01:44 pm (UTC)I'm in an East Asian Humanities one right now, but the textbook spends a grand total of two pages on Shinto, and not much more on Buddhism, so I'm learning nothing. *weeps*

Date: 2004-10-05 12:03 pm (UTC)I've been waiting this for a while now. Your drabbles are always wonderful, but I miss your 1000+ words displays of Hisoka. Because your Hisoka is probably one of the most IC I've read. Boo.
Have you ever considered writing slightly bigger drabbles, like, 600 words. *coughs* I know you're busy, but wah, I can't help but dream. *G*

Date: 2004-10-05 02:06 pm (UTC)And I do, sometimes! Well, kind of. I like the way the hundred word limit really forces me to be very aware of every word I write, but most weeks I end up writing more than one, so it's kind of like a longer drabble. Just last week I did four (http://www.livejournal.com/users/fuda_100/103663.html).
