The hollowed out building is Page Hall. They saved the walls because they didn't want to overly disrupt the Oval. It's for continuity, I think. It's the future home of The John Glenn Institute.
I know the garden that you speak of ... The one that used to be by Cunz hall? I loved that one... The lavender was my favorite, I would detour through campus just to be able to smell it. It automatically brightened my day.
