Reading Wednesday
Mar. 19th, 2014 03:23 pmWhat did you just finish?
Laura's Wolf by Lia Silver. Laura, a bank-teller/con artist, meets Roy, a Marine/werewolf recently escaped from a secret government laboratory. Together, they fightcrime an evil werewolf! And also have hot sex.
It had a ton of tropes that I really like: huddling for warmth! Trouble trusting! Found family! Desperate confessions of loneliness! Food porn! Showering together! Lots of trauma! Dramatic rescues! Platonic bed-sharing! Non-platonic bed-sharing! Comforting people after nightmares! Sex with clothes on! Fem-dom! Lots and lots of hurt/comfort! Banter! I particularly liked this conversation between the two leads:
“That reminds me, I should probably tell you....” Roy began.
“What?”
“When I fell asleep on the sofa... I woke up when you put my head in your lap and stroked my hair.”
“Oh, God!” A burning hot blush engulfed Laura’s entire body. “You must think I’m so creepy.”
[...]
“I’m so embarrassed,” Laura muttered. “I swear, I’ve never done anything like that before.”
“That’s why I didn’t let on that I was awake,” Roy confessed. “I figured if I did, you’d be embarrassed and stop, and I wanted you to keep going. I don’t know how creepy that makes me....”
Laura laughed. “At least we’ll be creepy together.”
:DDD And now I can't wait for the sequel. Pick up Laura's Wolf on Amazon!

Raj by Gita Mehta. I feel bad that it's taking me so long to finish this, because it's a perfectly nice book. But I keep getting distracted!
