It's time for Remix! WHOOOOOOOOOOO! I love remix. Sign-Ups are open, so come and sign up with me. You have until the 31st.

Other awesome news: [livejournal.com profile] ladyofthelog came to NYC and I got to meet her! And now I can confirm that she is very cool.

Rewatching Buffy news: We are up to "The Initiative" in Season 4. I find myself way, way disturbed by the Buffy/Riley relationship now that I am actually a TA. I keep thinking, "You can't date her! You graded her papers! And probably laughed at her wrong answers with the other TAs!" It is icky.

My signup is done, whee!

The Buffy/Riley relationship didn't bother me that much because it was a pretty much done deal when I started watching. In retrospect though, yes, icky. Riley could have been so good and instead was so...Riley.

I can't remember whether Riley was a grad student or just an upperclassmen, but did he miss the "don't sleep with your students*" lectures? Grad students get those! Every year!

*It's kind of okay if you wait until after they're not in your class anymore. But still not a good idea.

Yeah, I've been watching for clues as to whether he's a grad student or an upperclassman, and at least so far, they haven't clarified. But even if he's just an upperclassman, you'd think the TA training would have included "don't date the students"!

It's also hard for me to relate because my students always seem so, well, student-y to me that I can't even imagine wanting to date one of them. People who are date-able need to seem cool and sexy and competent! They are not the people who annoy you by using their cellphones to text during lectures and then come to office hours to complain that they don't understand the class.

Yay!

And hahaha. That is the perfect description of him.

Somewhere once, I think it might have been in email, I had this long droning essay about how the idea of Riley (especially in S4)-- strong, relatively normal, not broody-- was great for Buffy, but Riley himself...oh Riley.

I interact with students now that I work in public service at the library and while there are some students that are attractive and seem reasonably competent, others don't seem to have used a library before and don't know how to check out books and are surprised when I tell them that the library is closing even though the hours have been the same, as far as I can tell, for years.

I signed up! Whee!

It was most excellent getting to meet you, and I left the Buffy Season 8 trades at [livejournal.com profile] marchek's - I hope you enjoy them. :)

Yay!

Thanks so much! I'll pick them up next time I see her.

And by the way, I remember you mentioned a couple of awesome fics I need to read? Do you have titles/authors/links for them? I remember one was an MPREG... I think Buffy/Spike, but I could be confusing two different stories.
