Thoughts on Merlin, Episodes 2x8-10
Jan. 18th, 2010 11:14 amThe Sins of the Father:
* Morgause/Morgana. Yes. I would read that story, oh my yes. Hooray half-incesty femslash!
* Morgause and Morgana being half-sisters (as opposed to Morgana and Arthur or Morgause and Arthur) confuses me. But whatever. I also have no idea what their family's backstory could be, but I suppose that's not really a critique, since I assume the show will explain itself eventually.
* Good to see that the show apparently thinks being a hypocrite is more morally problematical than killing a whole bunch of people.
* Uh, wow, Merlin, I'm pretty sure lying to Arthur was not a good idea. Also, not necessary. I want to assume this will turn out to be a plot-point, but I'm not sure the show is that smart.
The Lady of the Lake
* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
* No, wait, I'm sorry, clearly the show intended this to be a moving depiction of first love- HAHAHAHAHAHA. Seriously, they'd had about five minutes of conversation before they were declaring "I've never known anyone like you!" and making plans to run off together.
* It's a cat-bat-beast! Like man-bear-pig, but sillier. Also, I totally thought they were saying she was a "bastard", which made the whole thing more bizarre.
* Why is Merlin a Viking now?
Sweet Dreams
* The Show has clearly not yet tired of having evil female seductresses. I suppose at least this time it's not her fault?
* DESTINY AND CHICKEN.
* Poor Gwen.
* The bad guys are bizarre and hilarious.
* That's supposed to be a nightgown? Seriously? But it has a belt! And sleeves that would tear if you rolled around on them! And she's wearing jewelry with it! I am so confused.
* So... we're just going to leave Vivian under the spell then? For presumably the rest of her life? Good to know our heroes are concerned about others.
