1. Tom Cruise auditions for New Moon. Video. Hilarious.

2. Stupid Callous Homophobic Hateful Legislation. Video. The best new version of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Is that spelled right? Who knows.

3. Tori Amos has a Christmas album coming out! You can stream it here, along with her thoughts on writing the songs.

4. Monday's Dinosaur Comics was the BEST THING EVER.

5. So, there's another tankobon of Yami no Matusei coming out! Probably? But it's just material from serials that had not yet been collected. But this may indicate a renewal of the series? [livejournal.com profile] yami_no_matsuei is suddenly very active. People seem to be really upset about potential changes between the serial-version and the tankobon-version, but, um, it seems to me that it's always that way. Every serial-to-tankobon comparison I've seen has had changes; it's not really that big of a deal, you guys.

These have been my thoughts!

Ah, fandom, I missed you. *g*

I remember reading a review for the new Tori Amos album and thinking, Self, remember this. Will check it out when I get home.

I haven't yet seen people worrying (much) about the new YnM volume, but having heard that part of why the mangaka stopped before was because she had a homophpbic reaction to the relationships in the YnM anime... I am somewhat hesitant about the changes, waiting to see whether they are at her request or whether they are more the usual things publishing companies do to make something serial into tankubon.

5. Well, you know, fans are terrible at ignoring canon we don't li--wait.

Really? I had not heard that rumor. It seems unlikely to me, given the existence of way more explicit shouen-ai series.

Ha, seriously.

XD I should have been clearer: I am totally excited! Especially if it does mean there will be new material! Or even if it revives the fandom for a while.

Hee, for real. (My icon indicates fandom.)

It is very good! I like her versions of traditional carols better than the original stuff, but it's all nice to listen to.

Oh! No, I knew. I was gently mocking fandom >> Regardless, it was nice to see the interest jump.

I thought she had complained about the anime series in one of the side panels in the manga that's already published?

On the one hand, I get the worry, and you better believe I will be ranting with the best of them if volume 12 comes out and I disapprove of the changes (either to plot or to art). On the other, whatever Matsushita and her publishers do really isn't going to shake my personal take on the source, especially not after so many years to build my version. So I may gripe about disliking it, but either it'll confirm my take or it'll make me dig my heels in and keep my version out of spite. The outcome is pretty much the same.

Possibly! I don't remember that, but I have a terrible memory.

It's something that came to my attention after YnM fandom went quiet, because it was a side panel and wasn't translated by Theria. I don't ever remember her comments coming up in any fandom discussion.

Maybe someone else who reads this knows more?

Oh, yeah, I have no problem with people comparing the actual changes and making an argument for one version over the other. It's just that some of the discussion I've seen has the same feel as if one were suggesting editing Shakespeare to increase his profit margin. All manga series continue to work on the art between serial and tankobon and many also add to/change the writing or plot! It is not Censorship of Art.
