brigdh: (I am hopeless. Yay!)

Man, I am really kind of drunk. Lately I'd thought that maybe I'd begun to build a tolerance for alcohol, so when people said "come get a drink with us!", I said, "okay!" But wow. No. I didn't even drink as much as anyone else, and I'd just eaten a huge meal! Why is the drunk emoticon vomiting? That's not appealing to look at.

My stomach kind of hurts. And small things are terribly fascinating.

Whew, hi. And how are all of you this evening?

Doing great! Two job interviews on Friday (yes, I double booked myself. And yes, it was totally intentional).

Wooooo!

Wish me luck, especially on the second- It would be an AMAZING opportunity.

Good luck! Are they both local jobs, or is this a moving possibility?

Dude, I did the opposite of you and I got drunk for about ten minutes.

Life, she bites. :|

I love how coherently you type while drunk.

Dead like dead week, but surprisingly good! I'm procrastinating on papers right now, since Daily Show is about to come on and five minutes isn't going to do a lot of good.

Hee. But I don't particularly want to be drunk! We should switch places. Or bodies. Or something.

Third time I've tried to finish this paper. Still not done. Grr.

My internet makes red underlines if I spell something wrong.

I'm procrastinating on papers too! Not that I would write anything while in this state anyway, but yay Daily Show.

Oh, that sucks. I hate having to rewrite papers; my attention span for them usually only lasts for one time through.

Oh dear.
Clearly, we must keep you prone for the drinking.

Hahaha. Walking is interesting.

But now I'm prone!

Whew. Finished this time. YAY!

It was. The dinner was about as interesting as you could reasonably expect a dinner party with coworkers to be, but the people I went drinking with were nice, and we randomly happened to stop in for five minutes of some student film opening, which was interesting in the strange and bizarre way.

Man, I fear for when I have to start apartment hunting in July. Why can't my ideal home just happen to appear, right when I need it?

My NYU contact says the student housing office is an amazing resource and is the only thing there that doesn't suck. Considering my contact, YMMV.

There was. The film itself seemed to mostly feature a little black boy in a really bad blond wig lip-syncing to the 'I am telling you I am not going' song from Dreamgirls, but then there was a bit where the director (in person, live) was talking to the TV screen, but it was staged so it looked like she and the kid on the video were having a conversation.

Heh.

But that's good to know. I've decided that I'm not going to start looking seriously until I get back from Cyprus, though.

Yeah, you just can't. No time among other things. But they are open in the summer. Did you see that scary ass Craiglist creepazoid thing someone just posted to one of the NYC communities though?

I just went to look, and dude, that was really creepy. Though I think I would have had serious issues the first time random landlord tried to kiss me and not days later.

Yep. Also, apparently the film had been over an hour long at that point, though we only ducked into the room to watch for a few minutes.

Seriously. that's in teh "optimistic or stupid?" category.

Kat's gf Mira has a fucked up story too about a guy who wanted to rent her a room which was really just behind a paper screen and was waaaaay too excited to have lesbians there. "Two for the price of one," I believe was the remark.

Most places, yes. But NYC apartment hunting is bizarre; most buildings seem to want you to move in within days of signing the lease, so at this early stage there's nothing much to do beyond getting a sense of what different neighborhoods are like. Which is worrying and seems so strange and last-minute to me, but there's nothing much to do about it.

My lease runs out on the first of August, so I'll be back with three or four weeks to find something. I'm just leaving my things here, though I might pack them up to make things more convenient.

Number one rule. Whenever anyone asks how you are, say "I'm looking for an apartment."

I got two places that way over the years -- one a fabulous pad on 8th btwn B&C in a building an acquaintence owned. The other in a fabulous studio on gramemrcy park that a friend of mine's mom owned. You never know who is moving out or has a connection.

One (the one I posted heavily about in my blog) is in local government, so it would ensure staying here for a long time.

The other one is with a nation-wide company, but I'm fairly certain it's for a local position, although it would probably allow me to move eventually if I wanted to. But... honestly, I love Boston so much, I really wouldn't want to move any time soon!

I was asleep when you wrote this. I slept twelve hours! Which is good because the night before that I didn't sleep at all.

Aren't you glad you know that?

I am!

I slept for almost eleven hours, although I suppose I could blame that on the alcohol. But catching up on sleep is important.

Cool. I really should come and visit; I haven't been to Boston since I was only a few years old, and I'd love to see you, too.
