Dear everyone ever,

When I ask you if the wireless is functioning on your computer, it is not because I want to hear about your previous experiences with free wireless networks. I am, in fact, already aware that free wireless networks often go down. I know this because I have been outside of my apartment a few times over the course of my life, as unlikely as that apparently seems to you. I do not care about your political views on coffeeshops, or how the network also went down last week when you were here, or this other coffeeshop where the wireless network never goes down. The only reason I am even speaking to you is because if your wireless is also malfunctioning, I can talk the employees into resetting the network and fixing the problem, and if your wireless is not malfunctioning, it's a problem with my own computer that I can fix in other ways. THAT IS ALL I WANT TO HEAR. Yes or no, people. Say yes or no, and then shut up. Quit trying to bestow upon me the vast accumulation of your wireless life history. I suspect it's not much, or you wouldn't be giving me random facts instead of telling me what I need to know.

No love,
Brigdh

PS: HEADPHONES MEAN DON'T TALK TO ME. Jesus, where were you brought up? Quit sticking your hand in my face to get my attention for such eloquent statements as, "It's still down. I'm going to try again, okay? It hasn't done anything different, but I'm going to try!"

This is why tend to not talk to random people. There is a good chance they don't want to be talked to. Although it makes meeting people hard :/

Well, normally I am up for conversations with strangers. It's just when I'm clearly in the middle of working on something, and was only asking for one simple piece of information, that I get irritated by instead receiving long speeches. If I wasn't busy trying to fix my connection, I wouldn't mind talking to someone new.

Yeah, I think that when someones obviously working and wearing headphones, then chances are they don't want to be disturbed ;)

WORD. I mean, talking to random people is great (sometimes I go to coffee shops expressly because I want to do this), but it's really obnoxious when a stranger tries to strike up a conversation when I'm wearing headphones and obviously trying to work on something.

I feel I should take this opportunity to mention that I love you. That is all.

I used to walk on my lunch breaks when I was still with the City, and people would ignore everyone else but me and flag me down for directions! It's like, do you see me bopping and singing in bad Japanese here people?! XD

Tourists. I'm SO GLAD I haven't had to deal with them here. >.

Heh, yeah. It's not that I mind strangers, it's that I'm giving every signal that I don't want to be bothered, and yet they're ignoring that. It's annoying.

It's so weird. I'd think headphones are pretty much as clear as you can get, but apparently not.

Whoo! (Does anybody really need three icons from the same picture? If I'm any indication, then yes.)

That reminds me of how my grandmother will start talking to me when I am obviously reading and later tell everyone how rude I was for trying to read while she was talking to me.

I wish it were only strangers who did it. Them I could tell off politely and not expect it to happen again and again.

Uh, it helps if I use the right icon

Oh, my brother used to do that to me all the time. It's so irritating. And yes, everyone felt I was the one being rude if I ignored him.
