Moving

I'm driving to New York tomorrow, and moving in on Sunday, so I won't be around for the next few days; I'm not sure exactly how long it'll take to get internet set up, though I'm sure I'll end up stealing wireless from a coffeeshop or library if it's more than a day or two. Not that I've been writing enough posts for anyone to notice if I don't make one for a few days, but that's just because nothing happens here. Except packing, and that doesn't make for interesting retellings.

My mental state, in brief: What am I doing! I know I'm forgetting something vital! No one will like me! Everyone is more experienced than me! I won't be able to handle the work! Everyone is smarter and more friendly than me! Everything ever will go wrong! Wah!

Feel free to, you know, offer comfort.

Packing always psyches me out, too.

Best of luck!

You will be fine. :) And just think: New York! Whee! ♥

Most likely, anything you forgot you can buy, or it can be mailed to you. *pets*

Hee, thanks.

And the only reason I've done most of my packing already is because I didn't have anything else to do. *laughs* This prepardedness thing is totally a first for me.

Heh, thank you. People keep telling me that, but I've yet to be able to overcome nervousness with a little thing like logic.

I'm sure it'll all be fine. *hugs* If you forget anything you can have it sent to you, you were smart enough to get in so you should be able to handle anything that's thrown at you, and not everything can go wrong.

I kinda fail at comfort.

somewhat ot?

I'm not so great at comfort, but I can at least reassure you on how awesome you are; a few days ago I picked up The Years of Rice and Salt on your recommendation and it's absolutely amazing. Seriously, thanks for posting about it, since it's not the kind of book I usually read and I love it.

And, well. I'm sure New York will be fine. :)

1. You are not forgetting anything vital. You'll probably forget something, yes, because it's hard to move without doing that; but whatever it is, they'll have it in New York. Or it can be shipped to you. Or both.

2. Everyone else is not smarter than you are. I know it's tempting to think that, but it would be wrong. Your issues are much more likely to run in the opposite direction.

I'm glad you posted this. I did remember that you'd be moving right about now, and assumed that you had no time for anything but packing and organizing, but I did notice the silence, and had been hoping the process wasn't making you quite literally too miserable for words.

You people and your conspiracy to make me believe New York actually exists. *G*

You're not forgetting anything you can't get there, anyone who doesn't like you is clearly wrongheaded, everyone else will be terrified about being inexperienced, and as I have yet to hear of mass enlightenment taking place in the vicinity of New York, I think it's safe to say you don't have to worry on the smart and friendly front. Take a deep breath, think of all the fans you're going to get to meet and all the things you're going to get to see and do, and smile. It may not be the best coast, but it's a pretty good place, from all accounts. ;-)

*grins* Yeah, thinking of New York almost manages to outweigh all the rest of the panic.

*gives you a big hug* It all will work just fine and you'll look back on this post and laugh and wonder 'what was I so worried about'. *G* You're a fabulous lady and you'll do great!

*laughs* That is totally something I would do. I once packed for a two-week trip the hour before I had to leave for the airport.

No, you're very good at comfort! This is exactly the kind of thing I keep trying to tell myself.

This is better than comfort, though! This is exactly the kind of news I like to hear. I always love it when people like the same things I like. Rice and Salt is my new favorite book.

Thank you.

I haven't been miserable, just both busy and bored, which is a strange combination, and one that doesn't lend itself at all to writing about it. But I assume I'll be posting much more often now.

Shhh, we've put a lot of thought into the plan to fool you.

Thank you. I know I'm being silly, but it's still good to be reminded of that. *laughs*
