One of the things I forgot to link to in my post the other day: Evil Lyrics, a program which will find the lyrics to whatever song you play. Okay, so it can't find the more obscure songs, but it has a better success rate than me and google, and is much quicker. I have been searching for this program for years without knowing what I was looking for. Its existence makes me so happy.

For those of you with Macs, there's pearLyrics, which I hear works even better. Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] coffee_and_ink.

Connected to this, I'm about to steal an idea from [livejournal.com profile] ciceqi. I'd been planning to write a Halloween fic for yesterday, but I got too busy to finish it. I might anyway, and just post it a week or so late, but for now, I offer this instead. Request a song from me. "Be as specific or general as you want--if I don't know the fandom/character/pairing/situation, just give me a brief description and I'll do my best. I don't promise I'll definitely be able to find you something, but I'll sure as hell give it a good shot."

Hmmm. I'd love to hear something that reminds you of the Sanzo + Hakkai dynamic.

Wait, request a song by giving you a descrip that you think a song would fit?

Yep. Just name, you know, a pairing or a movie or a book or something, and I'll give you a song that I think fits.

...like, the stuff you put on food?

Damn, that's gonna be a hard one. Lemme think.

Naw, like the book you read. I'm just curious b/c I remember you liked it quite a bit.

Ooo, gotta pick the hard one, don't you? *grins*

I've been looking for a song for these two for a while, as I've been putting together a Sanzo mix for several months now, but I've never found one that seemed to fit perfectly. But try my current favorite: Neutral Milk Hotel - Gardenhead (). "And I guess it's worth your time / Because there's some lives you live / And some you leave behind"

This is a m4a file, by the way. If you can't play those, I can get you a wma instead.

Heh. I don't know if I liked it that much; you seemed more interested in it than I did. ;)

But, uh, here you go: Murder by Death - Pillars of Salt (http://s58.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0OZONUJJJZC463JWN1ULH62RH3). Not that it really has anything to do with the book, but it's the only thing I can think of. *grins*

Heh. Whoops.

...I listened to the first three seconds of this song and recognized it immediately, which drove me crazy for a day or two. I finally figured out that I had named it incorrectly (two songs filed as "Communist Daughter" and no "Gardenhead"). Wonderful connection, though--amazingly, I've never thought of it in a Minekura context before. *g*

Right back atcha: Josh Ritter's Come and Find Me (http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1V35VKFONYE1Z1PF91DJ74IO9H).

"If I could trace the lines that ran/Between your smile and your sleight of hand/I would guess that you put something up my sleeve"

Ooooo, that one is good. Thank you!

My problem is that I keep finding songs which have one line that works perfectly, and then the rest... not so much. But this is a good one.
