1. I continue to not have enough iron to give blood. And I've been taking iron pills!

...Well. When I remember. And when I feel like it; I hate the way they taste. So, in other words, I've probably taken ten in the last two months. I still feel that I should be rewarded for this obviously enormous effort I've made.

2. People could rec me fanwork sites so that I can find a Saiyuki wallpaper. You know. If they wanted to.

3. I saw the new Star Wars movie last night. Compared to the last two, it was great. Compared to any sort of objective standards, it… had problems. Particularly any scene with Padme in it, because George Lucas writes romantic dialogue like a thirteen-year-old girl overdosed on Harlequins and Mary Sues. Not that any of the dialogue is much better, but you really haven't seen anything until you've watched two well-pain actors play a scene where, I kid you not, the dialogue literally went: "You're so beautiful." "That's because I'm so in love." "No, it's because I'm so in love." And all the while, Padme is combing her ABUNDANTLY CURLY hair. Anyone who has ever deal with curly hair in real life knows that you cannot comb it, unless you have some secret desire to end up looking like a cat with its tail in the electric socket.

Anyway. It did have some good moments- I particularly liked Anakin killing the little child Jedis; that was a much darker place that I would have thought Star Wars was willing to go. And it was handled nicely. They cut away at just the right moment. Though: 'younglings'? WTF? "Students" wasn't exotic enough for ya, George? And why, when Yoda and Obi-Wan found the bodies, did they have no marks on them? The first few of those deep, machine Darth-Vadar-helmet breaths was played wonderfully too; I got shivers.

So overall: I though it was worth seeing, but then, it's not like I had any high hopes to be disappointed.

De-tangling combs are a wonder. I wish I had discovered them before I was twenty-two.

The movie would ahve been wonderful if they just hadn't bothered with teh dialogue and played the music over every scene. I loved the helmet-putting-on scene and refuse to believe in the existence of the "NOOOOOOO!" scene afterwards becuase I have NEVER seen a "NOOOOOO!" scene that didn't look stupid.

God, yes! After Vadar started talking in his helmet, it was all bad. And I think it could have been played in a very cool way- it was so disconcerting to hear the scary Darth Vadar voice asking after someone's wellbeing and being concerned, and that could have been used to wonderful effect. But, uh, they didn't.

And the "NOOOOOO!" was just awful.

Ooh. I've never heard of those, but it sounds like something I should check out.

For all I know they won't work on your particular variety of curly hair, but in case you haven't tried them already: Look for the big plastic combs with wavy teeth, sometimes with two sets of interlocking wavy teeth. I don't know why the waves make such a difference, but they do.

As an outside suggestion, should these fail or have already failed for you, you might want to check out whatever combs are being sold for black people in your area. The kinks typical of black hair (in the racial sense, I mean) aren't quite the same thing as white-person curls, but there's more overlap than you might think.

But that shot where they slid the helmet onto Vader and just stayed there ... man, that was the shot I came to see.

although I will never forgive Lucas for making me sit through that schmoopie "I wuv oo!" "No, *I* wuv *oo*!" crap between Anakin and Padme.

Mmmmmyes. I got chills going down my spine for that first mechanical breath.

Apparently I laughed through everyone of the 'romantic' scenes. Or so my friends claim, because I would never mock such tender moments, nope.

Thank you! And a nice one by you, no less. ^^

I hadn't heard about that community before, but thank you for the link. It's a very cool idea.

Thank you. Sanzo half-naked and looking almost friendly is hard to resist.

A friend of mine runs it. I'm looking forward to doing large-format work!

Totally. Is that fanart by the way, or just a canon picture I haven't seen yet?
