From [livejournal.com profile] threewalls: Why am I on your friends list? Comment and tell me. Then post this in your journal.

Or alternately, from [livejournal.com profile] b_hallward: Ever wanted to ask me something? Now's your chance. Anything goes.

Or, if even that requires too much thought for you, post a secret in the comments. IP logging is turned off.

Cause you rock so totally awesome? Your writing and your life and everything in between makes me want to read you. And you use my icons sometimes so that's an added plus. XD

Ever wanted to ask me something? Now's your chance. Anything goes.

Hm...I can't think of anything off the top of my head but...oh, this is silly...

How do you seem to stay so serene/peaceful all the time? Reading your entries is like...so comforting. O.o

Why am I on your friends list?

You mean I have to pick just one reason? You're a fantastic person. Also, I love your writing. You ship Tsusoka, and I very much agree with your view of Hisoka. I think that about covers the highlights. ^^

And my question (which is rather pedestrian and not at all meaningful) -- what's your favorite flavor and kind of ice cream?

Hm, I discovered you when [livejournal.com profile] mistressrenet recced your YnM fics, but I friended you because you're cool. I like the way you view things - your entries about the weather and how your day went and what you're thinking are awesome. And your fics are amazing, of course, but I don't friend people just for fics.

Aaaand... dumb question, but... what do you plan to do with your anthro degree?

We both like curtains fic- twas pretty much simple as that, though how I found you was a bit more convoluted. But that was at the other journal, wasn't it? --;

I can't remember who friended who first on this the 'personal' journal, but whichever. I know we're not close, but you're someone I trust to read whatever I put up if you're comfortable with it and skip if you're not. And I enjoy it when you comment <3

Aw, thank you. #^^#

*laughs* You know, I've had other people tell me the same thing. In real life, I seem to forever be the person who has to say, "Okay, everyone just calm down. It's not the end of the world; things will work out okay".

But I don't know how I do it, other than just a natural predisposition to staying zen. I suppose it's a combination of little patience for stupidity (because really, panicking never solves any problems, so just get over it and start doing something helpful), a cynical worldview (because then I'm never surprised when bad things happen), and a tendency to view most things as adventures instead of problems (you're lost? Big deal! Think what a great story this will make when you get back!).

Aww. #^^#

I have to choose just one flavor? I adore ice cream. I eat it daily. I suppose, if I had to pick a favorite, it would be from this little local store that sells the most outrageous kinds of handmade ice cream. I was there yesterday, and had their 'trio du jour' which is a small scoop each of whatever their on-sale flavors of the moment are. Yesterday's were Salted Pistachios with Ashland County Honey, Dark Chocolate Zin, and Goat Cheese with Fresh Spring Berries, to give you an example of the kinds of flavors they have.

But my favorite is one called Queen's City Cayenne. It's milk chocolate and cayenne pepper, which sounds like the strangest combination, but is so very, very good.

Oh, I'm so glad you said that. I always worry that I must be boring people with those entries; no one else could possibly get as much entertainment out of the weather or the skyline or whatever as I do. So thank you!

Heh. Not so dumb, and at least you phrased it much more politely than I've had some people ask me it. My specialization is archeology, which my university doesn't have as a seperate major. As soon as I graduate, I plan to go to graduate school in that, at least for a Master's but more like for a PhD. Archaeologists typically work for museums or science organizations (or sometimes even construction crews- it's law in most of the country that before any major construction project, an archaeologist has to survey the area to make sure they're not about to dig through the long lost tombs of Atlantis or something), but what I'd really love to do is become a college professor.

Answer to meme #1 - 'cause you're cool! And I just like reading you entries. XD

Answer to meme #2 - um... *thinks* ...if you could take only three books with you on a desert island, what would they be?

God, that's dumb.

Thank you!

And not dumb- but hard. Just three? I'll go with William Shakespeare: the Complete Works (which is kind of cheating, but oh well), because I could reread his stuff endlessly, The Changeling by Zilpha Keatley Synder, because I could never live without that book, and Royal Apprentice by Robin Hobb, because if I'm going to be stuck on a desert island, I might as well bring my favorite idulgent fantasy with me.

This one's a hard question to answer, because it's a let-me-count-the-ways kind of situation. You were extraordinarily gracious to me when I was a complete and utterly hapless newbie (as opposed to a semi-hapless semi-newbie); you write wonderful stories I would hate to miss any of; people have interesting things to say in your comments; your posts about day-to-day life are always fascinating to read; you agree with me about Hisoka's coolness. (Or I agree with you, since you were there first.) I enjoy your company, and I miss it when real life takes you away for too long.

Also, I admire your nerve. I am so not posting this myself, whatever the meme says.

The first thing I remember about you was noticing that you commented on almost everything on [livejournal.com profile] fuda_100 -- if a drabble had only one comment, [livejournal.com profile] gaudior and I would look at each other and say, "I bet that's [livejournal.com profile] wordsofastory." And most of the time we'd be right. And I thought that was nice -- it's encouraging to new people and makes them feel welcome and all.

Then I became more familiar with the people that wrote on [livejournal.com profile] fuda_100 and liked your fic.

I do this thing where I read the journals of people I don't know every so often. And after I noticed I kept coming back to yours, I added you.

*sagely nods with comments above* I agree with everything said earlier... Your posts are always interesting to read and you have a way of narrating that makes everyday normal happenings seem utterly fascinating.

Personality-wise you're very nice as well. You're actually one of the very first people in my f-list. Your gracious feedback provides encouragement to newbies (like yours truly, thanks very much) who're lucky enough to have come across you (or you across them, in this context).

What's your favorite place in the world?

*laughs* Well, I just feel so bad, when someone goes to the effort of wiritng something and posting it, and then it doesn't get any comments at all, and it only takes five seconds to say something nice. But I'm kind of embarassed that other people actually noticed me doing it.

And thank you! I've done similar things, but usually I'm too lazy to remember many people, so I friend anyone I'm interested in right away. *grins*

There's a simple explanation to that: getting comments makes me happy, and I don't write fic anywhere near fast enough to get the sort of feedback I'd like. So random babbling about life it is. *grins*

Well, wow. That's just about the best answer to this meme ever. Thank you. She says, blushing madly.

And it doesn't take that much nerve- I imagine the worst thing that's likely to happen would be if no one replied.

Tee. Thank you!

My favorite place in the world, for the moment, is a little spot on campus. The Oval is our big grassy field in the center of campus, intended for frisbee-playing and dog-walking and sun-bathing other such necessary activities of college life. The art museum is just to the east of it. Along the edge where the museum meets the Oval, there's a huge poured-concrete structure: a series of six or so stairs, each several feet high, sloping slightly to disappear into the ground at one end and curved to follow the Oval's line. It looks a bit like a stacked series of melting, half-moon disks. If you climb up to the very top, there's a little, wildly improbable lawn of grass, up there twenty or more feet off the ground and surrounded by concrete. But when you lie down, you can't see anything except the sky, and all the noise of campus and High street is so distant as to be barely audible. I adore it.

I'm happy to accept any and all compliments, but fairness compels me to acknowledge that everybody else on this thread seems to have said exactly the same thing, albeit with fewer semicolons.

We all say it, so it must be true. Blush if you will, but you're clearly going to have to learn to live with being adored by the multitude.

You're wrong about the worst that could happen, though. I can readily imagine answers that go something like, I friended you the first week you showed up because you wrote that one story that wasn't all creepy, and now I'd feel bad about dropping you. Hey, are you ever going to finish any of your damn WIPs? Or worse.

From: [identity profile] p-zeitgeist.livejournal.com
I don't suppose they'd give you any of the recipes? If you promised them it was for somebody half a continent away, who wasn't going to sell ice cream ever?

No, I was afraid they wouldn't. But the Dark Chocolate Zin sounds sublime, and the Queen's City Cayenne even better than that. And I have lovely cream and eggs from the farmer's market in the refrigerator right now.

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
*laughs* I think they'd be a bit reluctant. I'm impressed that you'd ask for a recipe, though; the closest I've ever come to making ice cream is with that Girl Scout-esque recipe that involves a Ziploc bag and salted ice cubes.

They do have a webpage (http://www.jenisicecreams.com/index.html), which strangely enough doesn't list my favorite flavor, but seems to have most of the others. Sadly, still no recipes.

From: [identity profile] p-zeitgeist.livejournal.com
Now that I've seen their website, it does seem clear that there's no begging recipes out of them. Because, it turns out that they ship. The Queen's City Cayenne is listed in the mail order section, even if it isn't on the main list at the moment.

Ice cream isn't hard, if you have the relevant machine. Or at least, the basics aren't hard. Figuring out the balance of spices for something like a Thai chili ice cream, though, that's a whole different level from where I am.

I think you worry too much- and overestimate the appeal of creepiness, but mostly it's too much worrying. I doubt you'd find anyone on your flist's kept you on out of nothing more than politeness.
