brigdh: (Better on holiday)
[personal profile] brigdh
I stopped posting for a few days in an attempt to force myself to finish those drabbles, and now I have all sorts of things to say.

1. Did other people know there's a Muraki/Tsuzuki archive? I don't know how I missed out on that.

2. I have so much less time to do things on weekends than I do during the week. What's up with that? Where do all those hours go? Thinking about it, it's probably the sleep.

3. I am so hungry right now that I could eat a human. Really. Okay, so that's not something I've been waiting to say all weekend, but it's on my mind at the moment.

4. I totally understand why people worshiped the sun. I could get behind that. Why yes, the weather has finally caught up with the month. Yay sunny 80-degree days!

5. Is there a word that means people enjoy talking to you? Because I must be the definition of it; I'm forever getting told deep, dark secrets by people I hardly know. For example: Saturday night I went up north of campus and got caught up doing things before I remembered that, hey, I was not on a bus line that ran all night. At about a quarter till ten, I realized that I'd better head back, and went out to the bus stop.

I was still there an hour later, irritatedly weighed the pros and cons of waiting just a few more minutes versus just walking- I was in flipflops, to justify a little of my laziness. A guy walked by, noticed me, and asked if I was waiting for the bus. I said I was, and he told me that he'd been too, farther north, but it wasn't running anymore. He asked if I wanted to walk with him and I shrugged and said, "Sure".

It took about 45 minutes for me to get home; in this time, he told me his entire life story. No, really. We started with his difficulty to move from part-time to full-time at his job at Kroger's (which is where he was coming from), moved on to how much he'd like to go to college, but he'd almost dropped out of high school, his anger over his brother being a pothead, and mother's drinking problem and how she yells at him when she's drunk, his distanced relationship with his father, his attempts to find an apartment, made harder by his felony record, and how it had felt to be in jail when he was a teenager. I feel like I know him better than I know my brother, and I'll never see this guy again.

6. The Passion of Artemisia is not written by the same author as Girl with a Pearl Earring, a fact that I didn't find out until I was half-way through it. I had started to wonder; I'd heard so many people recommend GwaPE, how could tPoA read like a cross between a Harlequin Romance and a soap opera? That is one bad, bad book.

7. I've now finished Saiyuki, Saiyuki Gaiden, and Saiyuki Reload. I... I need fic recommendations. Badly. I love Sanzo so much that it hurts, and I'll read him paired with anyone. I will even read gen with Sanzo. Just yes. Give me some links, please.

I've, uh... written some Goku/Sanzo porno, if that might float your goats. Also I feel that you might enjoy this ficbit (http://www.livejournal.com/users/geekerypokery/41566.html?thread=215646#t215646), but it's just a thought.

Hmm, Sanzou-fic, Sanzou-fic. Well, here are a couple of my favorites:

Desire (http://homepages.tcp.co.uk/~maya/fanfic/sydesire.html), by [livejournal.com profile] incandescens. Sanzou/Hakkai/Gojyou, but the sex isn't really the point.

The definitive Sanzou/Gokuu fic is Hth's Honeymoon. (http://gatefiction.com/hth/honeymoon.htm) Her Sanzou is so right it's painful.

And of course, The Sanzou Who Walked by Himself (http://home.eol.ca/~basara/saiyuuki/catsanzou.htm), by [livejournal.com profile] flemmings. Also Night Roads (http://home.eol.ca/~basara/intaglio/night_roads.htm). Also everything else she's written. Go, read all of her stuff immediately.

5: Easily approachable? Poor man's psychiatrist? I have the same fault; whenever I'm out and talking to people, they soon start sharing their life story. I think for some people it's actually easier to tell about these sore points just because they're probably never going to repeat that random encounter.

[livejournal.com profile] pellaz is also neglecting to mention she writes excellent Sanzo-fic.

My husband has problem/opportunity #5 as well. He doesn't understand it either.

As for recs: check [livejournal.com profile] cicer and my recs at [livejournal.com profile] try_this_fic, someone else was a good reccer there but I don't remember who; my memories, and [livejournal.com profile] pellaz's Sanzo essay, which is also in my memories and is just totally worth reading.

Dude, isn't it? I only finished it because I kept finding something even worse, and the sick fascination was too much to put it down.

And ha! Randomly, you have the same icon as one of my other friends.

Okay, so, taare tuttaare ture svaahaa is *so* hot. In a wrong kinda way. Or, um, in every way. Possibly. And hot. And... yeah. 'Cause it's the, with the thing, and yep.

So why have you not written more?

I completely understand that; sometimes it is much easier to tell things to someone with whom you don't have to worry about it affecting their perception of you. I'm just surprised that it happens so often to me. *grins*

English class, really? But it was such a bad book. I shouldn't talk though, we read some pretty shitty stuff in my high school too.

*laughs* That's a good way of putting it. Very true.

...BECAUSE I'M LAZY! IT IS TRUE! I weep.

(uh also because most of it has been RP 'cause I'm lame that way)

But my point is, eeeeee thank you! ...Also, I second the recommendation of Hth's Honeymoon, of course, but I'm certain you've gotten there already.

And! While we are talking about fanfic that people have written! OKAY I DON'T KNOW WHY I NEVER MADE THIS MENTAL CONNECTION, MOSTLY BECAUSE I'M A MORON, BUT IT WAS /YOU/! YOU WROTE THE 'FIVE THINGS THAT NEVER HAPPENED TO HISOKA' FIC THAT WAS THE ONLY YNM FIC BY SOMEONE I DIDN'T PERSONALLY KNOW THAT I HAVE EVER UTTERLY LOVED!! ...really, some sort of faulty wiring occurred for a long time that caused me to not realize that, but /damn/ do I love that fic. So, uh... yes.

I think I'm done now.
