...And now I'm back from Spring Break!

Heh. I think that's the longest I've gone without posting since I got a livejournal. Many things happened, but writing about them will have to come later, as sleep is a much more important priority right now: my plane came in a whole three hours before my first class. But I wanted to say hi again to y'all.

I also wanted to say that we discussed Nietzsche in my class this morning (who apparently was far more positive than I'd realized), and one of his things that the professo mentioned was amor fati, love your fate.

I like that philosophy. Even though it's the first day of classes, and grey, rainy and generally sort of blah, today is actually pretty good. It's just warm enough that walking in the rain isn't unpleasant, so you can appreciate how everything looks. The trees are bare still, but they're all slick and dark as charcoal, and the water in the street reflects them; doubled trees, reaching up to a huge expanse of grey sky and down to a narrow slice of grey road. Raindrops explode into puddles. Cars make that distinctive shushing sound that they always do when there's water on the ground, which reminds me of falling asleep. The buildings are water-streaked, beige and grey and tan, and the umbrellas look amazingly vivid against them, like splashes of paint and ocher. Even the grass looks greener than it really is, and on one lawn the fallen burrs surrounded their tree in a pattern like a stilled firework.

Just thought I'd share.
