In other news, apparantly there's a new Yami no Matsuei story coming out! (Link's here, but the site's in Japanese.) According to information from the yami_no_matsuei mailing list, it says:

It'll be in the Za Hana to Yume (which is different from Hana to Yume, which is what YnM has previously been published in) next issue, coming out on August 26. And finally, to round out the fandom news and make myself a complete geek, I heard a song today based on Jack Sparrow. It was written and sung by a classmate's of my little brother's, but it was actually quite good. She sounds very professional- he played it for me off a CD she's produced. I'm willing to share it with anyone who wants to hear, just ask me on AIM, or if anyone's willing to provide hosting, I'd love to do that. ^^

Yeah, I'm really dissapointed that I won't be able to get a copy, either. I can't think of a single place that might sell it in my city. But hey, at least it's being published, even if I can't get one of my own! I'm sure someone'll be able to get a copy and put it online.

I'm with you on "at least it's being published"! I had given up on there being any more YnM, to be honest, and was resigned to the fact that at least the unsolved mysteries made good food-for-thought for fic-writers!

I wonder if this Tatsumi side-story is a way of Matsushita-sensei/Hakusensha testing the waters with a view to putting out new chapters of YnM?

I really, really hope so. I mean, a year and a half isn't too long to go between chapters, especially if you consider some of the uber-reclusive authors we have here in the US, who can go for decades without being heard from.
